About our school

Wombat is a small rural school located in the South West Slopes region of New South Wales. It is part of a village that relies on surrounding primary production including wheat, sheep and stonefruit.

The school was established in 1868 and has always been a one or two teacher school maintaining strong community ties and a high profile in the local area. Students attending the school are drawn from the local village, surrounding properties and neighbouring towns. The aim of Wombat Public School is to create a caring, supportive, enjoyable and challenging learning environment in which each student will strive for personal excellence. They will endeavour to develop the full potential of their intellectual, physical and social capabilities and the skills necessary for an expanding lifestyle and future change.
