High potential and gifted education

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.

At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?

Recognising potential and developing talent

Our teachers find potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.

Tailored lessons

Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.

Rich opportunities and activities

Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the arts, sport, leadership and more.

Opening doors to wider experiences

Our students can participate in a wide range of additional opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.

What is high potential and gifted education?

High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities

Our students engage with  HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

In our classroom
In the classroom, we provide highly differentiated teaching tailored to meet each student's unique learning needs. Our dedicated School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs) offer additional support, while extension opportunities and engaging projects inspire and challenge our students to reach their full potential.
Across our school
Across our school, students enjoy a diverse range of enriching programs and activities. Our collaboration with the Young Regional Conservatorium enhances the music experience, supported by participation in the school ensemble. HPGE students also benefit from access to external sports providers, as well as hands-on learning through kitchen and garden programs. Opportunities to participate in art and writing competitions further inspire creativity and excellence within our gifted and talented community.
Across the small schools network
Across the Small Schools Network, our HPGE program offers enriched and diverse opportunities to challenge and extend gifted students. These include participation in sporting carnivals and Shiel days, combined excursions, and involvement in public speaking and debating competitions. Students also take part in performances and concerts, the Creative Arts camp program, and cultural immersion experiences. Additionally, targeted mathematics and English extension classes provide further academic enrichment tailored to individual potential.
